Money to Resource Based Economics: Step By Step

Transition away from monetary economics to a resource based economy will be a multi-step process. It will require a significant shift in the way we think about our planet and the interconnected relationships we as a species have with it, life in general and each other. This can be facilitated, in part, by expanding our understandings of the natural world and the information planetary and human sciences have to share with us.

"Huge swathes of people in the Western world spend their entire working lives performing tasks they secretly believe do not really need to be performed. The moral and spiritual damage that comes from this situation is profound. It is a scar across our collective soul. Yet virtually no one talks about it." -- David Graeber

Love wins: The inevitabilty of the new economic system

Although it seems almost hopeless to part of our consciousness, I feel intuitively that a change in the value system of humanity as well as enough of a "spiritual realization" within the consciousness of the human species would make an economic model based in holism able to be worked toward and eventually actualized. It is when it becomes accepted that a system has failed that emergent ideas can take hold and be allowed to flourish.

The Age of Decadence

The Age of Decadence

It is not an exaggeration to state that reformation of the monetary system is the great moral issue of our time, and arguably, of all time. At face value this may seem like an intellectually unjustifiable claim, however, it becomes increasingly evident when analyzing the current economic paradigm that our intuitions may not be the best guide for such an ambiguous, complex, and far-reaching issue. Second only to religion, monetary systems represent the greatest unquestioned and tacitly supported institutions in all human history.

Conventional wisdom would have you believe that most people enter adolescence with a head full of high-minded ideals and a willingness to shake up the system. As they get older, however, they gradually begin to accept the status quo. For me, that process is reversed.

The older I get, the more skeptical I become of our current social model. Why?

Let’s start with this:
