Global Abundance System

Warning: a weapon of mass creation is detailed below, currently available for replication, distribution and use. Handle with care.

Introduction

The world is moving. The world is changing. The world is full of energy.
The number of human inhabitants has risen to an unprecedented amount. A lot of mouths to feed, a lot of voices to hear, a lot of minds to educate, a lot of will to develop, and above all, a lot of love to share.

It's a good opportunity to send all of that energy to create a new world, a new paradigm, a new civilization.

Why?

Every human being has needs. Some of them are basic and irrefutable: water, food, shelter, clothing, heat, light, education, health care, etc. Others are secondary but equally necessary, like sports, communication, arts, etc. Others could be considered a luxury, but equally important for self knowledge, such as labs for experiments, leisure activities, entertainment, etc.

Meanwhile, every human being can do and contribute. In some cases those contributions are unique; just one person knows how to do them. That each human being has the opportunity and means to know what makes them unique, and at the same time a place to offer and materialize it, is very important for personal and collective fulfillment.

The existence of necessity and the capacity to satisfy it are not enough for its creation. The binding of those parts are required as well. The creation is manifested by connecting the person who has a necessity to the person who can satisfy it.

How?

The Internet is the greatest place for people to express what they need, how they want to contribute and propose a solution, in other words, how to put all the parts together.

Each person can register his or her need. A linker can propose a solution to that necessity by a set of contributions from other people, resources, concepts or services that are already available to the community.

What?

The Global Abundance System, or simply GAS, is the virtual platform where a person can login; tell the world what he or she needs, contribute by sharing his or her resources or capacities, or just by suggesting solutions.

A matter of perspective

In the third part of the movie 'Zeitgeist Moving Forward', Project Earth, a world-wide information system is described, composed of several subsystems that manage each step of the production process: resource tracking, production programming, inventory management, distribution, etc.
We have enough or more knowledge to achieve this objective, but quoting the final phrase in the movie 'Internet rising: "This is information; appropriate use of it can bring a new dignity to mankind. Properly related, it can make the balance between his needs and his resources. But with computers, as with any other tools, concepts and directions must come from man. The tasks that are set and the data that is given are specific to man and to his responsibility."

In other words, computers would take care of us only and just only when we can take care of each other.

GAS is the first step to achieve a world-wide system, giving every Internet surfer the basic functionalities: ask, give and connect.

Implementation

Starts local, goes global

Although the GAS has an objective which is that the information of needs, shares and solutions are available world-wide, it is not required that information be centralized. Many GAS servers can exist depending on the level of relevance of data.

At a foundational level local GAS servers will exist, one for every city or community. At this level local information would be managed and assisted among neighbors, group of friends or small organizations. The next level is province or state. Those needs that are beyond the community could be published at this level, encouraging resource transport and services.
National and world wide-servers are expected as well.

I invite everyone to start installing GAS systems, one in each city. Once inhabitants can help each other, help between cities could be done, then states, then nations, then, why not?...between planets.

It is important to follow this plan due to incremental and sustainable development through time; meanwhile users of this system adjust themselves gradually. It is also important that users change their current source of motivation from external sources to internal, personal and sustainable, according to their needs, wishes or feelings.

Use

At the following addresses demonstrative GAS servers are available:

This is a normal use of GAS:

  • Any person can request registration. Initially some suggestions about use of this system are shown. Ethics, morality and love as intentions of use of this system are necessary, otherwise abundance and sustainability will not be achieved.
  • It's also noted that all information will be published, including email address, descriptions of needs, shares and solutions, except passwords. People who have morality, security or privacy issues should not register nor use this system.
  • Username and password are requested. From that point on, the person is allowed to use the system.
  • The next step is to fulfill his or her personal information and an email address for notifications.
  • Then any needs could be published.
  • The same person or another can create a new solution and add some items or services already published by the community.
  • Those items and services may include labor, technology, transport, raw materials, energy, know-how, production units, etc.
  • When a solution changes its status to be completed, the person with its related need is notified by email.
  • This last person can select a solution from those suggested.
  • Once a solution is taken, every involved person is notified: who asked, who offered and who binds, by email including all the descriptions.
  • The communication and execution of the tasks and activities required are in their hands.
  • The need is considered as satisfied and is archived.
  • One need could have several suggested solutions, but only one can be taken.
  • A shared item or service can be applied to more than one solution.
  • Needs and shares are available in the system for six months.

Further development

Decentralization

While servers are mounted, development will continue to allow communication between them, creating what is known as a server farm, and for those needs that can't be satisfied with local shares, data would be browsed in surrounding servers. In this way information is decentralized, meanwhile use of informative resources is optimized.

Development environment

The whole application was written in a netbook with an Atom N270 microprocessor, in a 12-inch wide screen, so practically any person in any computer could contribute to development.
Source code is available at this address:
http://www.github.com/margori/Global-Abundance-System
I suggest to create several independent branches of development, each one with a special topic. As an example, in my case, I'll continue developing, providing users have good intentions, only misusing the system by mistake or error. Another branch that could be taken into account is the bad boys, those who have intentions of destroying the GAS servers.
I used these applications in development: Xubuntu 12.04, Apache 2, PHP 5, NetBeans 7, Midori 0.4, GIT, Gimp 2.4, Libre Office 3.5.
Yii framework was used under BSD license. GAS code itself is released under AGPL license.

Information details

At first, users are completely in charge of the descriptions. Future development would allow use of assistants who generate better and more appropriate descriptions. Interfaces of communication to other informative systems would be created as well (API), allowing the automation of requirements about resource availability or system needs. Automation of solution creation is also plausible.

Personal notes

Publishing this article and this system set a very important milestone in my life. I consider the mission of my life accomplished. The most important one may be: With this I give the best of me to humanity.

I say thank you with all my heart to all the people who allowed, influenced, supported, educated, inspired and loved me so this dream could come true.
As with any human creation, this work has errors and can be perfected, so therefore, I patiently await your comments, critiques or shares. There's a lot of work to do, and I fully intend to do it.

Much love,
