Social Awakening

With all of the confusion and tension erupting in modern societies it is obvious that the vast majority of people have extremely varied and distorted perceptions on what aspects of our global reality are responsible for causing this difficult “survival” situation. Yes we are in a survival situation even though the common terms are “political” or “economical”. These are simply two facets that have a direct correlation to our values, survival and well-being under our current system.

Astonishingly, there are still many people that honestly believe that despite the fact that it is mathematically impossible for the world to ever pay off it’s existing debt, that our problems can still be solved by political means. The closest thing to change politicians can conjure is the repetition of the word “change” through the media. People don’t seem to understand that our political leaders aren’t the individuals at the top of the pyramid scheme that is controlling the world through a compartmentalized knowledge and economic hierarchy aimed towards self-maximization and complete systematic control of the world through the economy (whether this is a specific elite group or the reinforced behavior of the corrupt system is debatable). The point is that governments cannot operate any other way because like the rest of us they are slaves to our corrupt economic system. The governments act as nothing more than corporations that make profit through deceiving the public through the media into believing that they have people’s interests in priority, when in fact profit is their main priority.

I believe this political deception is a very dangerous part of the global situation because the governments are acting as a “snooze button”, keeping people asleep to the broader picture of the situation as the mainstream media implants delusionary dreams in to the subconscious mind of the sleeping public. Our current economic and political structures cannot be maintained through an age of technological automation without a grossly misinformed and molded totalitarian society. It’s vital that the Zeitgeist Movement wakes people up to what is causing the problems we see today and make people realize that politics is an obsolete part of society.

I feel if the Zeitgeist Movement is to gain recognition as a logical solution to the global challenges then we have to make it very clear to people who still have faith in our current political systems that our problems cannot be solved through political means, we must get the public to wake up! The purpose of this article is to provide facts and an argumentative stand point for illustrating just how inefficient government operations are (in terms of providing a service for society) on a localized level, in hope that it will clarify the hopelessness of politics and government on a larger scale – which is illustrated in the movie Zeitgeist: Moving Forward. Below are a few (definitely not all) red flags that expose the true nature of our government’s newly introduced policies and restrictions. These examples are specific to South Australia but also illustrate the nature of our governments on a broader scale.

The self-serving and perpetuating nature of our government is obvious when you take into consideration the excessive fines South Australians receive for petty offenses such as jay walking, drinking alcohol in “dry zones” and minor traffic offenses etc. However it is their strategic nature which truly exposes their intentions, for instance “dry zones” are allocated to areas with the highest density of alcohol based venues, such as Hindley Street and speed limits often change from 60kmph to 50kmph in areas the driver wouldn’t expect. My favorite example of the government acting as nothing more than a poisonous expanding revenue raising network on a local scale would have to be the new South Australian motor registration renewal process. As of this year the process of vehicle registration renewal has changed, and (not surprisingly) so has the fine for driving an unregistered vehicle.

According to the official website of The Government of South Australia “The maximum penalty for driving an unregistered vehicle on a road is $2,500 regardless of who owns the vehicle”. The occurrence of this penalty is maximized through the government’s strategic abolition of registration labels and the removal of 6 and 9 month registration periods for light vehicles as of July 1st 2011. This process obviously creates confusion for the vehicle owners who don’t even have registration labels to check when their registration needs renewing and can only choose between rapid 3 month renewal periods (increasing the likelihood of an individual driving an unregistered vehicle) or an expensive 12 month renewal period (decreasing the likelihood of the driver being able to afford that option).

The revenue from this new regulation that has no benefit to society in any way is maximized through all of the existing traffic cameras that can now read individual number plates and detect registration details - “All road traffic cameras detect unregistered and uninsured vehicles on South Australian roads”.

However this isn’t enough for the government, they also have to waste the time of our “police” paid for by our taxes. “Advances in technology allows roadside registration checks to be carried out by South Australia Police using advanced wireless equipment to immediately check vehicle registration status using the vehicle number plate details.”

But it’s ok, because the government justifies this gross waste of human life and technology -
“Registration fees (and fines?) contribute towards maintenance and improvement of the road network”.
In other words the “fees” contribute to the expansion of the government’s transport revenue raising network, misleadingly labeled the “road network”.

Clearly this revenue is not simply negative reinforcement of regulations (not laws) that are put into place to sustain a civilized society, nor is it simply greedy, unethical governments. Alternatively it is the result of our governments being forced to submit to our current system of a centralized economic power structure that has no interest in anything more than maximizing revenue and expansion at any cost. The intent of this breed of petty fines are blindingly obvious to most people, however it is the regulations that hide under the labels such as “green”, “environmentally friendly” and “climate change” that are bypassed by many people, keeping the hand of society on the snooze button.

All regulations and taxes that the world’s governments are justifying through “saving the planet” are also simply deceptive tactics of retaining power while giving the illusion to people of ignorance that they have people’s interests at heart.

For instance, in South Australia since 2009 the distribution of “checkout style plastic bags” was banned. Now we have “biodegradable” plastic bags that usually have to be purchased for around 10c. In July 2010 (after distributing over 60 million bags) the Goody plastic bag company was under scrutiny for falsely claiming it was biodegradable when testing by a company in Belgium (Organic Waste Services) proved that they were still “completely intact” after 12 weeks by which time They were expected to be turning into organic compost. I’m not sure whether the bags are now manufactured differently or simply marketed more strategically with the new bags displaying the slogans “Re-use me over and over” and “STRONG REUSABLE” but I think the information speaks for itself. In hindsight, one has to consider whether this petty regulation should really be a priority when it comes to local environmental issues. I work at a local supermarket and it is amazing how many people come through with countless items imported from all over the planet using inefficient transport methods, with excessive packaging made from crude oil and then feel as though they are being environmentally responsible by using so called “green” polypropylene shopping bags that are also made overseas and transported via inefficient methods. To me this is the equivalent of an obese man sitting in a pile of old food scraps while eating a bucket of deep fried chocolate bars and believing he is being healthy by washing them down with a can of coke zero. While this regulation isn’t a revenue raising strategy it is clearly a tactic to give the illusion of social progress.

What is most concerning to me is the fact that many people with an environmental / social conscience seem to think these regulations are actually being implemented for a positive cause. Since 2009 the phasing out of incandescent light bulbs began to take place under the veil of “climate change and energy efficiency”. The regulations encourage and will eventually monopolize the use of compact fluorescent lamps (CPLs) which arguably have been proved to only use 20% of the electricity that “standard” incandescent light bulbs use to create the same amount of light. However, the CFLs contain mercury, make constant buzzing noises and produce harsh, unwelcoming ultra violet light. These negative attributes may be acceptable if it wasn’t for the fact that, when designed to last (not standard), incandescent light bulbs can last for over 876,000 hours! (100 years). “The light bulb at the Liverpool station (California U.S.A) has been burning continuously since 1901, ironically the bulb has already outlasted two webcams”. The light bulb celebrated its 110th birthday this year in 2011. It is evident that the standard incandescent light bulbs are inefficient due to their designs based on planned obsolescence, a quality that is still persistent in the “standard” CPLs. Clearly this regulation is based around the centralization of manufacturing and distribution more than controlling the standards of efficiency and product lifespan that products must meet for a more sustainable society. Otherwise governments would simply enforce a minimum lifespan requirement for the production of technological products, obviously not limited to light bulbs.

The largest scandal that hides under the veil of climate change is the introduction of the carbon tax. This of course is taking place on a global scale. At one point I thought this was a good idea until I actually thought about it for a few moments. It is not my intention to go into the tangent of legitimate scientific evidence suggesting that natural galactic cycles are more likely reasons for climate change than human activity, but I’m going to!

The use of fossil fuels doesn’t account for the atmosphere of our planet increasing in density at an accelerated rate since the 1950s or a 5,060% increase of ozone in Earth’s middle atmosphere or the warming of the oceans at depths of over 300M or (according to NASA 2009) the increasing frequency and brightness of noctilucent clouds in Earth’s upper atmosphere migrating from the poles. Is it really so hard to believe that these (and many other) planetary changes may be due to galactic forces that the general public is kept ignorant to? They are very likely to be caused by external factors such as solar activity, increasing cosmic ray intensities and the increasing proximity of the magnetic field that has been detected by the voyager spacecraft just outside our solar system that is magnetized between 4 and 5 microgauss.

I’m not trying to be an expert on the matter but I do feel that the opinions of scientists who have no economic or political motives should be considered more valid than the opinions of politicians. People should be skeptical about everything mainstream media and politicians say about anything which affects large groups of people because they will happily deceive the public to maximize profit.

Obviously I and 83% of Australians think the carbon tax is an insult to our intelligence and freedom. However at the same time I agree that restrictions should be placed on forest degradation and the consumption on fossil fuels. But the carbon tax is not by a long shot any kind of solution. Instead of putting objective regulations on energy production, energy efficient transportation design standards, resource management and food distribution, this tax aims at further exploiting people to consolidate power. It is simply another example of “problem, reaction, solution” although the “problem” being remedied could actually be the result of natural cycles which (if ignored) could pose a greater threat to human life. It’s no wonder this regulation has to be forced upon Australians despite public opinion, because this global tax is going to do nothing more than expand the poisonous revenue raising governments and create a higher degree of centralized power on a global scale which is one of the main problems emerging from our economic system.

It’s time to wake up the public mind and get people to realize the truth of our current situation. The Zeitgeist Movement must act as an alarm clock. Creating mass awareness of the Zeitgeist Movement should be one of the main objectives for activists at this point in time. Because if people continue to sleep through reality and rely on our governments for any form of change then any progress that society makes will only be in the interests of those at the top of the economic pyramid. Ultimately it is up to the general public to stop holding up this pyramid because it is starting to sink and the ones at the bottom will be much worse off than the ones at the top.
