Slay Santa

Slay Santa

Nearly six months ago now, a few friends from the Glasgow city chapter and I were out on the streets in the city centre to do a little culture-jamming in the form of a Yuletide anti-consumerism campaign. As usual, with not much time set aside for planning and gathering resources for anything special, we were doing our standard flyer-distribution and chatting that we had done for the last two years, albeit with a couple of new flyers that I designed with the help of some friends.

Quantum Leap In Transportation!

Quantum Leap In Transportation!

YOUR PARTICIPATION IS REQUIRED! (Please) :)

You're all familiar with this technology from Zeitgeist Addendum! Now you can be a part of making this a reality! We often hear people asking about how the transition will be. Well folks, this is the beginning of that transition. The Internet was really the catalyst for bringing humanity closer to the realization that we are all one. Evacuated Tube Transport will eventually change that virtual community to a tangible way to get to any part of the planet in less than six hours.

Power of TZM: Our Message

Power of TZM: Our Message

TZM Charter

When I think about the world, and how we interact with it, I often wonder not just at the surface assumptions, prejudices, rallying cries, slogans, mottos, and platitudes (eg., We Are the 99%, Mo' Money Mo' Power, The Audacity of Hope), but on the underlying ideas that support them. Now, don't get me wrong, a clever quip or inspiring phrase delivered at the right moment can be inspiring to a supporter, or devastating to an opponent, but what any great and powerful social movement is really made up of is presuppositions.

A Letter to the World's Government Ministers: Let's Put Them All In the Picture

A Letter to the World's Government Ministers: Let's Put Them All In the Picture

This week, I have sent the following letter to British Prime Minister, David Cameron. I would like to invite TZM members to adapt this letter as appropriate and send it to every senior government minister and newspaper in their country. Let's leave ourselves in no doubt that they have all gotten the message:

Zeitgeist Netherlands: a new website

Zeitgeist Netherlands: a new website

At Zday 2012 at Vinkeveen (Amsterdam region) we were happy to launch our new website. It is much more interactive, dynamic and offers great new functionalities. It's easier to find people in your region, to self-organize and to develop an ever better understanding of our zeitgeist.

Announcing the One Planet Project

Announcing the One Planet Project

One Planet Project is a NEW, massive global awareness campaign.

Our goal is to spread information of the many global, societal issues and to create awareness of a new economic model known as a Resource Based Economy to more and more people around the world. We hope that through this new knowledge more and more people will begin to have a better understanding of global issues, the many problems that exist, where they derive from and the solutions that we can begin to look at.

A Leaderless Movement

A Leaderless Movement

There is a popular demand within the Zeitgeist Movement: Horizontality, meaning the group's ability to participate in decision making both locally and globally. We all want to participate, and rightly so. From the outset, the movement declared itself as a leaderless one, without hierarchies. So why is it so difficult to achieve this? Isn't the way to go, obvious?

To answer, we need to understand the context of the statements, and define how any movement can function without leaders.

Submitting an Idea to French President : Spread RBEM on TV !

Submitting an Idea to French President : Spread RBEM on TV !

There is an opportunity in France to get the RBEM discussed on TV, by taking advantage of the national election coming up soon. What an easy way to make it happen! All that's needed is for people to give their "thumbs up" on this idea submitted to the president:

Moving forward from a monetary system to a Resource Based Economic Model

London & Cardiff Z-Day 2012 Review

London & Cardiff Z-Day 2012 Review

I went to London looking forward to seeing how strong an event the London Z-Day would be in comparison to last year (because last year's was the main global event and so obviously was likely to have a strong showing). I wasn't disappointed.

Z-Day is an annual awareness-raising day the Zeitgeist Movement has to get people together through talks/lectures and discussions about the goal of a resource-based economy and the way forward to a healthy society.

Getting others on-board the RBE bandwagon

Getting others on-board the RBE bandwagon

Most but not all of these folks fall into an activism category which believe the government needs to be adjusted to meet the needs of certain segments of the population. That generally means the poor or otherwise disenfranchised.

Most of us reading here know that doesn't work. Separating out segments of the population for special treatment by government just means more government, more overhead and generally less success. But how do you explain this to that group of progressives who see RBE ideas as no more than a new label for Libertarianism?
