With hundreds of events happening all over the world the weekend of March 16th & 17th, this year's Main Event will take place in Los Angeles, CA at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre. This daylong event showcases current understandings in the areas of Human Values, Monetary Economics, Applied Science, Technological Unemployment and Environmental Sustainability.

As a follow-up to my first blog post (Why We Should Develop a Strategy for Online Activism), I would like to propose an idea that my chapter is currently trying out for the purposes of spreading the word about the topics, ideas, and issues related to a resource-based economy.

Waiting for the Mushroom Cloud

As an activist doing outreach with the Zeitgeist Movement, I often come across those individuals who believe that the human race is simply incorrigible. The message gets communicated in such responses as, “I’m just waiting for the mushroom cloud,” or “All humans are psychotic,” or “Humans are a virus that needs to be eradicated.” These are actual statements that have been told to me, as if they are the cold hard truth that I must come 'round to submitting to.

Why Voting Matters More Than Ever

Voting is defined as the ability to express one's preference for a candidate or for a proposed resolution of an issue. While the framing of the issues aren't voted on, a candidate for U.S. President is and will be leading our armed forces as well as the direction of our foreign and domestic policy. In less than 90 days, millions of Americans will cast their votes to re-elect either President Barack Obama to a second term, or to shift the socioeconomic trajectory further right with a Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan version of governance.

Political Parties & RBE Transition

Forming a political party that exemplifies the Zeitgeist Movement's ideals has been a hotly debated topic for as long as the Movement has been around. However, given the apolitical and leaderless nature of the Movement, the global requirements of the Resource Based Economic Model (RBEM), and all of the hurdles and distractions that come along with forming a political party from scratch, it simply doesn't make much strategic sense.

Before we begin, the subject of social participation in an R.B.E. is extensive, and to those unfamiliar with other discussions of this issue in our materials it can seem complex and foreign. Structural Dishonesty

I work in a warehouse where we receive refrigerators and stoves from manufacturers, perform quality control on them, attach some standards stickers and company logos to them and then sell them as our own products. We are the very definition of a middle-man, and sad will be the day when the retailers and manufacturers realize that they could get by without us. But for the time being we facilitate things well enough to be a profitable business.

Our Era's Racism

Last week I heard this piece on public radio titled, "Are Candidates' Spouses Off-limits?", and I just felt so disgusted. Skip ahead to the 40% mark, and you'll hear what I'm referring to.

The conversation turned to the expensive shirt that Ann Romney wore, and how people felt about it.

Please vote for my project "Hooked on Aquaponics". If I win I will receive $2000 to be used for building Aquaponic systems. With the systems I plan to start offering free instruction to the public on how to build and operate their own system scaled to their need and available space.
