The Defective Day Part 2

The Defective Day Part 2

Read Part 1 here

The morning after the field trip, I awoke to the sight of the sun cautiously breaking the horizon outside my window; manipulating the sky into an array of bright and fiery colors. I pulled myself out of bed and watched the glow for a few short seconds, and then noticed the moon off to the left, slowly fading into the day time. In a quick motion I set my hand on the window and arranged my thumb and index finger on the moon, pulling them apart to zoom in. The grey sphere enlarged and I could see the ships entering and exiting the lunar docks. My parents had traveled by orbital maglev to the moon two days ago for a vacation after a long work session attempting to create matter without the empty space between the atoms, as a method for drilling to the center of planets. They deserved the time away on the moon.

A shift in social values

A shift in social values

A new member of the Los Angeles chapter (Roberto Tejada) gave his first TZM Townhall presentation this past June 2014. The topic was about a shift in values contrasting the current monetary paradigm with how our values would differ in an NL/RBE. I enjoyed his talk and wanted to share it here.

The following are my comments in regards to "values" following upon the conversation started in this presentation:

Imagine First and then Create

I wrote this essay for a religion class I took at my university. This was before I really was involved or knew anything about the zeitgeist movement. Until I recently re-read it, I did not realize how much it relates. I think a transitional tool could be to have people think about their world void of evil - and then from there try and put it in motion.

Consciousness change and practice to help the movement's impact on our planet

The mission of the Zeitgeist Movement of spreading awareness about a resource-based economy, I feel - and it has been said by other members - is totally connected with an awakening of consciousness happening on our planet. The line of reasoning and critical thinking that leads to advocating a resource-based economy is a part of, and not separate from, the evolution of nature, the patterns of nature, and our species' consciousness in relation to nature. By nature, I mean the universe and its message to us through science.

Spreading the Word Through Consistent Movement Wide Media Programs

As a follow-up to my first blog post (Why We Should Develop a Strategy for Online Activism), I would like to propose an idea that my chapter is currently trying out for the purposes of spreading the word about the topics, ideas, and issues related to a resource-based economy.

Waiting for the Mushroom Cloud

Waiting for the Mushroom Cloud

As an activist doing outreach with the Zeitgeist Movement, I often come across those individuals who believe that the human race is simply incorrigible. The message gets communicated in such responses as, “I’m just waiting for the mushroom cloud,” or “All humans are psychotic,” or “Humans are a virus that needs to be eradicated.” These are actual statements that have been told to me, as if they are the cold hard truth that I must come 'round to submitting to.

Why Voting Matters More Than Ever

Why Voting Matters More Than Ever

Voting is defined as the ability to express one's preference for a candidate or for a proposed resolution of an issue. While the framing of the issues aren't voted on, a candidate for U.S. President is and will be leading our armed forces as well as the direction of our foreign and domestic policy. In less than 90 days, millions of Americans will cast their votes to re-elect either President Barack Obama to a second term, or to shift the socioeconomic trajectory further right with a Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan version of governance.

Political Parties & RBE Transition

Political Parties & RBE Transition

Forming a political party that exemplifies the Zeitgeist Movement's ideals has been a hotly debated topic for as long as the Movement has been around. However, given the apolitical and leaderless nature of the Movement, the global requirements of the Resource Based Economic Model (RBEM), and all of the hurdles and distractions that come along with forming a political party from scratch, it simply doesn't make much strategic sense.
