How to Spot BS and Never Feel Insulted Again: A Brief Introduction to General Semantics and Non-Violent Communication

There are few things quite so mis-understood by humans as their own psyche and behaviours. A few examples of our distortions from reality include concepts such as the existence of 'good and evil' people, or of a human having a distinctly separate 'mind and body' and hence having separate 'mental' and 'physical' health. Such old superstitions are still passed around human cultures today, even decades after evidence that shows them to be irrelevant has passed from the cutting edge of science.

Toward the end of the '70s and early '80s I began to be preoccupied with the problem of justice and injustice. I began to realize that there could be no justice in this world with the working people being exploited. They were getting meager earnings while their exploiters were enjoying the benefits of their hard labor.

The collective time used for playing different kinds of computer games has already reached millions of years. This is a huge, nearly unutilized resource of human problem-solving capabilities. Gamers are not educating themselves in how the world works or doing anything very productive in terms of the infrastructure. I seek to channel time used in games to design structures.

Below is a short narrative I wrote for my high school English course shortly before I graduated. I'm hoping to expand on it and impact a large number of people in my community in the form of a story that is easy to understand.

The magnetic lift slowed to a stop atop the slanted glass building. I looked out the window, and watched the entrance gate lock into place with the train. The grey wall unlocked, using the loose magnetic charge from the train to force the wall open.
