The modern incarnation of the zombie, as seen strewn across pop culture horror novels and films in ever-increasing numbers, is easily recognized and radically different from its historical roots; any member of our modern Western culture can spot the gray, often rotting flesh, the black eyes, the dishevelled appearance, the shuffling gait, the wretched moaning, and, of course, the bloody mouths flecked with fresh flesh and detritus.

Money is a toxic waste to which our entire global civilization is deeply addicted. Money pollutes our relationships, our values, our institutions and our lives. The root cause of most of the major problems facing modern humanity is our monetary addiction. Money is the most addictive substance on the planet and the most deadly. Every person who uses money is addicted. Money enables all other addictions. Recently, Peter Joseph stated in an interview for his new series "Culture in Decline" that there are two major laws governing our monetary system.

When I think about the world, and how we interact with it, I often wonder not just at the surface assumptions, prejudices, rallying cries, slogans, mottos, and platitudes (eg., We Are the 99%, Mo' Money Mo' Power, The Audacity of Hope), but on the underlying ideas that support them. Now, don't get me wrong, a clever quip or inspiring phrase delivered at the right moment can be inspiring to a supporter, or devastating to an opponent, but what any great and powerful social movement is really made up of is presuppositions.

A Leaderless Movement

There is a popular demand within the Zeitgeist Movement: Horizontality, meaning the group's ability to participate in decision making both locally and globally. We all want to participate, and rightly so. From the outset, the movement declared itself as a leaderless one, without hierarchies. So why is it so difficult to achieve this? Isn't the way to go, obvious?

To answer, we need to understand the context of the statements, and define how any movement can function without leaders.

Money Talks - Use the system against itself!

Some of you might already have heard of this activism method. It involves printing only a third of a bill (legal in Europe) and fold the flyers in such a way they look like real money. The crucial thing is this tactic can go global. It can be applied to all currencies and is waiting to be used in EVERY COUNTRY around the world. I hope this idea will inspire you to join the project and spread the word about what is possible. The effectiveness and fun factor of the method is immense.

Hello everybody. It’s great to see so many people gathered here with interest in the ideas of the Zeitgeist movement. It’s great to see such awareness of a need for fundamental change. The need for an economy that is sustainable, provides in abundance and actually takes care of us. Not only am I happy to see you here, but I’m also very grateful for Ben McLeish and Gilbert Ismail to share their findings with us here tonight. May this result in a fruitful debate in the end.
