Seeing the positives from the negatives

Seeing the positives from the negatives

A month ago I attended the wedding of a close friend of mine. It was a beautiful, non-religious ceremony and a fantastic time was had by most during the following reception. During the reception I began a conversation with one of the bride's close friends from her university days.

Banking System - Fractional Reserves

Banking System - Fractional Reserves

I am a citizen of the Czech Republic, in the so called “Heart of Europe”, a neighbor of Germany, part of the European Union. We still have our own currency – Czech Crown (Koruna Česká) – but our banking system is similar to the USA Federal Reserve System, although we have only one Central Bank – the Czech National Bank (CNB). I hope that this will prove better for understanding as it is not so complex, but still uses the same mechanisms.

“La capacidad de atención del hombre
es limitada y debe ser constantemente
espoleada por la provocación.”

- Albert Camus

The System is Clearly a Joke

The System is Clearly a Joke

We've got a terrible economic situation and it’s getting worse. But why is this? And what will it mean for, say, the UK's jobs market, industry, education, and society as a whole?

My prognosis is that the economic situation will lead to an even greater scarcity of jobs in the future as the debt game trundles on. We'll see more social division, patriotism and nationalism emerge as individuals - in this case, British citizens - move toward a protectionist mentality, perceiving that they have more of a 'right' to take a job above non-British citizens.

Democracy – From Power to Process

Democracy – From Power to Process

For as long as there have been humans, there has been some form of central authority to manage decision-making. Whether it has been the elder, the shaman, the chief, the king or the president, most societies throughout history have established their decision-making around a central figure or group which it deems most wise or knowledgeable. The problem with a central authority is that it almost always generates corruption.
