Essay: A People's History of a Resource-Based Economic Model

“Arawak men and women, naked, tawny, and full of wonder, emerged from their villages onto the island’s beaches and swam out to get a closer look at the strange big boat. When Columbus and his sailors came ashore, carrying swords, speaking oddly, the Arawaks ran to greet them, brought them food, water, gifts.”

Gap Between Generations (or Why our Elders May Never Understand.)

Ever since I got involved with the Zeitgeist Movement and have become self aware of the current political issues, I've always received flak from my parents about my political views and decisions. Everything has been tossed at me from logical disagreements to even childish ad hominem attacks. My parents are in their late 60s and they have certainly lived in a different period.

Ignorance is not bliss

Have you ever truly meditated on the insidious simplicity of the shopping mall experience? I ask you to consider it with me now. I remember the frustration of driving in undulating and pointless circles as I burned off expensive fuel, just so I could find that perfect parking spot, afraid to walk an extra hundred meters as though it were a trek through the Himalayas. Here, I ignore the first hint that something is wrong.

The Arts and the State of Progress

I would like to bring attention to the arts, and the rhetoric in which in today's paradigm is projected. There is a common idea that the arts are valuable, however there is not the actual translation of that to any observations on the ground to reality.

Methodologies for awareness: Is yoga a valid tool for creating new minds?

It is obvious we need a new social and economic organization. But the point is: How can we built a new society with the same minds? Impossible! To create new society we need to have new mental patterns. This is a consensus, I believe.

So the question is: How can we change old mental patterns?

Yoga seems to be a very useful tool. To transcend physical limitations is necessary transcend old postural patterns. With yoga we start to create new capacities, not only physical, once our posture is the results of our mental patterns.

A Closer Look at Burzynski

Earlier this year, a documentary film was released highlighting the emotional story of cancer patients, adults and children alike, outliving the grim predictions of their medical prophets. Their savior was none other than Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski and the Burzynski Clinic in Houston, Texas. The documentary was well-made, enticing, and emotional. The first 30 minutes of the film are spent explaining Dr. Burzynski's revolutionary new approach to fighting cancer and showing us interviews with people who had allegedly been cured by it. The remainder of the film details an epic story of Dr.

Bad Decisions

A few years ago, a nameless couple signed a contract with pages of purgatorial fine print that committed them to decades of debt so they could own a home. The economy crashed, their house value plummeted, one half of the couple was laid off, and making ends meet became impossible. Those who were not so unfortunate blame these victims and sum it up to “they signed the contract, so they made a bad decision.”

Dealing with the Overpopulation Myth

To start off, as long as the market system is in place and profit is the main motivation to do anything, what I talk about won't happen (social entrepreneurs, fortunately, aren't profit-motivated, but that's a different discussion).
