Why Voting Matters More Than Ever

Why Voting Matters More Than Ever

Voting is defined as the ability to express one's preference for a candidate or for a proposed resolution of an issue. While the framing of the issues aren't voted on, a candidate for U.S. President is and will be leading our armed forces as well as the direction of our foreign and domestic policy. In less than 90 days, millions of Americans will cast their votes to re-elect either President Barack Obama to a second term, or to shift the socioeconomic trajectory further right with a Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan version of governance.

What about “Democracy” in an R.B.E.?

Before we begin, the subject of social participation in an R.B.E. is extensive, and to those unfamiliar with other discussions of this issue in our materials it can seem complex and foreign. It isn’t the scope of this essay to be definitive as it would be substantially long. The following presents a basic overview along with select points for consideration.

Jacque and Peter Together Again!

Jacque and Peter Together Again!

On Wednesday, February 29, 2012, Jacque Fresco and Peter Joseph will be speaking at the same event once again. Jacque and Peter are both scheduled to speak at TEDxOjai in Ojai, California. (www.TEDxOjai.com). Peter will be speaking live and Jacque will be speaking via pre-recorded video.

Bad Decisions

A few years ago, a nameless couple signed a contract with pages of purgatorial fine print that committed them to decades of debt so they could own a home. The economy crashed, their house value plummeted, one half of the couple was laid off, and making ends meet became impossible. Those who were not so unfortunate blame these victims and sum it up to “they signed the contract, so they made a bad decision.”

Our Hollow-hearted Neighborhood

A 65 year old man lives near me. Physically fit and socially active, he is able to live independently. He has lived in his home for 26 years and has earned his living through a specialized trade. Business has been steady for him for most of his time as a craftsman, until a few years back. Since that time, he has struggled to make ends meet. He has been, as far as I can tell, mostly generous with his neighbors and his church community. What he lacks in intellectual volume, he makes up for in heart dimensions.

Collaborating efforts and finding our Interests

I’d like to start off by asking some questions which I thought since I was asking myself, I’d ask the movement as well:

Are we interested in starting totally from scratch, or for the experts in these areas which already exist, to use their expertise and teach others how to do it? (As far as the material and technical needs). It may seem like a totally obvious question but I thought I would still ask because what may seem like one thing can be another. The latter can result in another system of total dependency sort of like we see now if not carefully assessed.

My Week at Occupy Wall St -- Orange County

I have spent the past week at Occupy Wall St in Orange County in Irvine. Occupy is not a Zeitgeist Movement event, but it is a meeting place of people who are feeling and acknowledging the failings of our current system. People of many different backgrounds are passionate about alerting the public to the dangers of our economic system and they desperately want it changed.
