Volunteer at Shultz’s Guest House

Volunteering at Shultz’s Guest House is a very rewarding experience. Aside from working with and helping to save, nurture and instill human trust into our dogs, you will also form bonds and lasting friendships with other individuals who possess paralleling compassion and devotion to animal rescue.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life and are the kindest, most sincere and selfless people you’ll ever want to meet. We really are a family here!

Animal handling relieves stress – some say it even lowers blood pressure. Walking and engaging in play, stimulates energy, and motivation. Partaking in puppy socialization promotes the human-animal bond, which curbs loneliness and provides the feeling of a sense of purpose.

If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves, share in some shelter chores, all while surrounded by wonderful, love-seeking dogs, in an enjoyable setting, simply fill out the online application and submit it back to us. You won’t believe the impact that volunteering has on your life – and the life of a rescued dog.

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older in order to volunteer at Shultz’s Guest House.

New volunteer applicants must participate in one of our Volunteer Orientation Training sessions, before being able to sign up for shifts. This orientation reviews shift details, safety precautions, dog handling, shelter protocol, and other important information.

Volunteers must complete a minimum of six (6) months and twenty four (24) (4x/mo or comparable consistent routine) shifts before personal adoption will be considered. We want to know you – and we want you to know us, our mission – and our dogs. It’s a lot more than just falling for an adorable little puppy face, because that – you will do every time you are here!
